Get To Know Your Ideal Client

When writing any content, especially your nurture funnels, you want to make sure you're targeting your ideal client.

You should not be writing content that targets no one specifically, because that's just appealing to the masses - and you don't treat the masses!

Understanding your ideal client can be pretty simple on the surface of things.

At the very least, you want to know these things about your ideal client.

  1. What their problem is
  2. What their frustrations are (these are usually linked to what their problems are but is also something you can expand on to get deeper insight …. A clinical example - their problem might be eczema, and they are frustrated not only with the constant itching but also with the poor service they get from doctors and the fact they are constantly given cortisone cream to shut them up)
  3. How they want to feel/what their goals are
  4. What their age bracket is (best kept within a maximum 10-year range)
  5. What their challenges are to achieving change (back to the clinical example – maybe they experience rebound eczema so bad they can’t live their life normally)

The more deeply that you know your ideal client, the easier it is to target your content to them with specific word choices, stories, information and freebies.

It's also okay to have more than one ideal client.  I have about six that I work on.  The amazing thing is that the more you tune in to who this person is, the more aware you'll be when you meet them - and it's such a cool phenomena meeting someone that totally embodies who you have been practising calling in!  I go really deep on understanding my ideal client profiles.  I know their favourite smells, where they shop, what makes them fall of the rails, and their deepest and darkest fears.  I know what motivates them, what makes them feel good, who they want to become and the reasons they are scared of becoming that person.  You can go as deep on this as you like.  You want to connect with this profile on a soul level.  Feel them.  See them.  Talk to them.

For example, in Prac2Pro I have two ideal client profiles.

The first is a business owner who has been in the game about 2-5 years.  She is driven, motivated, an over-achiever through and through and has the biggest heart.  She cares for everyone else so much, she often forgets that she needs to fill her own cup first.  Her motivation and health fluctuate according to how much she's giving to others vs herself.  She always finds her way back to this truth, and then tops up her cup... but she almost always ends up back in the same situation a few months down the track.  It's just a trait of an innate caregiver!  She has found her swing and confidence in her business and has invested so much passion, time and energy in making her clinic a safe and warm space.  Being such a self-starter and go-getter, she's always trying to find new ways to systemise her clinic and make her job easier, because she's starting to really enjoy getting into the flow of work-life balance!  Her biggest fear in the physical world is to fail at her business after putting so much of her Self and her Soul into it.  Her deepest fear on a Soul level is not being the shining example of love, health and success for her loved ones that she wants to be.  She wants to empower everyone she meets, and she would fade away if she didn't have the capacity to do this through her work.

The second is a recent graduate.  She's been out of her studies for a maximum of 2 years and has been trying to find the best way to go about getting into practise.  She will end up epitomising all of the qualities and values of the beautiful lady above when she gains confidence and flow in her skills and gifts as a healer and business woman.  She is aching to step into her power but has a lot of fear and self-doubt underneath the overwhelm and excitement.  She did really well in her studies and has always known she wants to go into practise, but doesn't know exactly who her ideal client is yet, and what her innate talents are as a prac yet either - but she's eager to get into the clinic and find out!  She is open-minded, driven, passionate, and can't wait to prove all those people wrong who told her along the way that she can't make money as a healer.  After graduating, she has an intense emotional range, feeling excited, scared, daunted, incapable, powerful, divine all at once.  She knows she is destined for great things, especially when she puts her mind to it... she's just not quite sure where to start and needs a bit of guidance from someone that has experience in the areas she doesn't feel confident in yet.  Her biggest fear in the physical world is admitting defeat to anything she's tried at.  She doesn't want to go into a job that doesn't allow her to use her skills.  Her deepest fear on a Soul level is that she's not enough.. that she doesn't know enough, that she can't help enough... and that someone will prove this right one day... even though she knows, equally, that this is the furthest thing from the truth.

Not everyone is your ideal client, so don't be deflated or upset when people don't like your content.  Consider it a win because you only want to be interacting with and connecting with people that are actually resonating with your information and what you offer!
